Resident Return Visa

If you leave Australia after your travel validity expires, or it expires when you are outside Australia, you will not be able to return to Australia as a permanent resident. The Resident Return Visa (subclass 155 & 157) allows you to return as a permanent resident.

Fees

From $990 incl. GST

Government application charges are extra, are set by the Department of Home Affairs, and are not refundable by us. We confirm your exact fee and terms in writing before any work starts.

"From" means the base fee for a standard application. A higher fee applies where there is more work to do. That can mean extra applicants, a previous refusal or cancellation to deal with, or complex evidence. We confirm the exact fee in writing in the service agreement before any work starts.

About the Resident Return Visa

With this visa you can travel to and from Australia as a permanent resident until the travel facility of your visa expires. There are no limits on the number of Resident Return visas (RRV) you can apply for.

Who can apply

Eligibility

You must be either an Australian permanent resident, a former Australian permanent resident whose last permanent visa was not cancelled, or a former Australian citizen who lost or renounced citizenship.

When an RRV application is lodged, applicants are assessed against the criteria for both subclass 155 and 157 visas. If the requirements for subclass 155 RRV are not met, and the applicant is eligible for a subclass 157 RRV, the maximum travel facility that can be granted with a subclass 157 RRV is 3 months.
